Old Men

These were my first time working with 3D objects — and they changed the way I think about what wood can do. The process uses two bits: a roughing bit that tears away the bulk of the material, and a finishing bit that comes in slow and brings every wrinkle, every line, every year of that old man’s face to life. The wood does the rest. Every grain is different, every piece tells it differently.
